Dear Parents,
As you will know, the birth rate in Camden has been declining in recent years. There are many reasons for this. The cost of living, change from long term to short term lets and social housing tenants being relocated to boroughs out of London are just three. One consequence of this reduction, in the numbers of children applying for school places, is resulting in the closure of some of the most affected schools. St Michael’s is one of these schools.
The governors of St Michael’s, in accordance with procedure, have produced a consultation document on the merger of St Michael’s School with Our Lady’s school. The local community has to be consulted about this proposal. A link to the consultation document and a letter outlining arrangements for parents can be found at the bottom of this page and in the ‘Parent Information’ section of the school website. St Michael’s is due to close on 31st August 2022.
Your children are, as they always have been, our most important consideration. All school pupils have come through a very challenging and unsettling eighteen months and it is central to our forward planning that we minimise any further upheaval. Pupils will therefore not suffer any disruption to their daily school routines and will be largely unaware that St Michael’s will have merged with Our Lady’s, thus maintaining the continuity of their education.
